The Battle of Wildcat is Re-enacted each October

Each year the Camp Wildcat Preservation Foundation supports the Laurel Home Guard in their annual re-enactment of the Battle of Camp Wildcat.

The re-enactment is unique in that it is held on the actual Confederate encampment site from which the Battle of Wildcat was staged.

The re-enactment includes a special day for area school children. On this day from 800 to 1,300 children receive a lesson in living history. In addition to military scenes from Civil War days, the children get to see other period activities such as candle-making, soap-making, blacksmithing, doll-making, butter-making, and similar activities. Period dress is also featured.

Other activities include historical speakers, a Ladies Tea and Social, a memorial service for those who fought at the Battle of Wildcat in 1861, and a dance. All in all it is good, family-oriented fun in beautiful rural surroundings.
